Know It All

I love this little book. What a fantastic treasure trove of facts and details about history, science and much more. Know It All, The Little Book of Essential Knowledge by Susan Aldridge, Elizabeth King Humphrey and Julie Whitaker is written in simple terms, clear enough for both kids and adults. At the end of each section is a quiz you can take to see how much you've learned. I have a terrible short term memory so I didn't do so well. Then again, it was late and I was tired.

I didn't feel like starting up a new novel last night so I cracked open this book and stayed up later than I should have. Growing up, I didn't have an interest in the things I was taught in school. I daydreamed, passed notes, and watched the clock tick-tock until the bell set me free. Now I wish I paid more attention because I want to know things about the world. I want to play Jeopardy and shout out the answers with confidence instead of mumbling into my hand, then proclaiming, Did you hear me? I knew it! I'm hopeless at math but think there's potential to learn in the other subjects.
Know it All gives me the information I missed. Chapter One focuses on Understanding the Universe, Chapter Two: the Story of the Earth, Chapter Three: The Story of Life, Chapter Four: Exploring The World, Chapter Five: Invention and Discovery, Chapter Six: Conflicts of the Modern Age, Chapter Seven: The Structure of Society, Chapter Eight: Religion and Thought, Chapter Nine: Artistic Endeavor, Chapter Ten includes quizzes of all the chapters.
Here is amazon link for this fantastic book. You will enjoy having this book close at hand. What a great little holiday gift!
